Yunnan · China
Yunnan is where Dianhong comes from. We picked this one for the golden tip: sweet enough on its own, strong enough to take milk without going flat. Spring 2026.
Four honest fields, no flavour wheel.
Dark twisted leaves, streaked with gold.
Deep amber red, bright at the edges.
Malt loaf and dried fruit.
Malty and honeyed, cocoa at the close.
One tea, two ways.
- 01 Warm the pot with hot water, then pour it away.
- 02 Add 4g of leaf, or 5g if you take milk.
- 03 Pour on water straight off the boil.
- 04 Steep for three minutes, or five with milk, then pour it all off.
Yunnan's black tea, made for the morning. Malty and honeyed, with cocoa on the finish.
What people actually said.
I drink builder's tea with a splash of milk and was worried this would be too delicate for that. It isn't. Malty, a little sweet, and it didn't go bitter even when I forgot about it for a few minutes.
Thanks, Priya. That's exactly the job it was chosen for. If you want it punchier with milk, try 5g and give it the full five minutes.
Didn't expect to taste honey in a plain black tea, but there it is. Really smooth.
It's become my first cup of the day. I make it a bit weaker than the instructions say and it's still lovely.
Lovely on its own and holds up well with milk. Only four stars because the pouch is going far too quickly.
The three that come up most.
How should I store this? +
Keep it somewhere cool and dark, away from anything with a strong smell, and reseal the pouch after every cup. The fridge is too damp, so leave it out of there.
How fresh is this tea? +
It was picked in spring 2026 and arrived in the UK the same season.
How do you source? +
Directly from suppliers in Yunnan and Fujian, who name the garden, grade and harvest of every lot we buy. The lots are small and bought fresh each season.
